Do you need a vignette in Slovenia with a rental car? Rules and what to check (2026)
According to the Government of Slovenia, checked on 31 October 2026, a car up to 3,500 kg must have an electronic vignette (e-vignette) to use Slovenian motorways and express roads, which are operated by DARS, the motorway company; we could not check e-vignette prices because the DARS website did not respond to us.
Prices are not shown: the DARS website (evinjeta.dars.si) did not respond to our checks on 30 October 2026, and we only publish prices that we read on an official page.
Prices and rules change, and each rental company has its own toll fees. We quote the motorway operators and governments word for word, with the date we checked them; this is information, not legal advice. Before you drive, check the official page and ask the rental company how it charges you for tolls.

With a rental car
The official pages we read do not say whether rental cars come with a vignette. Before you book, ask the rental company whether the car will have a valid vignette for the dates of your trip.
