How to pay tolls in Norway with a rental car (2026)
According to AutoPASS (Norwegian Public Roads Administration), checked on 31 October 2026, all toll stations in Norway are automatic: a car without a toll tag is photographed and the toll is invoiced by post, while cars with an AutoPASS tag and agreement get a discount; AutoPASS does not say how rental companies pass tolls on, so ask before you book.

If you pass a toll collection point without a tag and a user agreement, a photo will be taken of your vehicle registration number. You will receive an invoice by post for the regular toll rate, with no penalty charge, from the toll charger that owns the toll station you have passed.
