ÖBB Railjet and Nightjet luggage allowance: how many bags, what size and extra bags (2026)
According to ÖBB’s fare rules for travel in Austria, checked on 31 October 2026, you can carry luggage free of charge if it fits in the racks above or below your seat or in the areas for hand luggage, and each piece must not exceed 90 cm x 60 cm x 40 cm; skis, instruments, pushchairs and folded bikes may be larger.
Train companies change their luggage rules, and staff on board decide when a train is full. We quote each company’s own pages word for word, with the date we checked them; the short summaries are ours. Your ticket and the company’s current page decide.
