Do I need a visa for Solomon Islands with a British passport?

We quote the FCDO text word for word and do not summarise it: its first sentence has conditions or a wording we do not turn into a one-line answer.

If you are visiting Solomon Islands as a tourist, you must apply for a ‘tourist visa’ through the new Solomon Islands Immigration Division visa portal.

The visa costs 100 US dollars. You will need to provide:

  • a copy of your passport
  • your travel itinerary
  • hotel booking confirmation
  • proof of funds

Tourist visas are valid for 3 months. There is a separate visa if you are travelling for business.

There have been some delays with the new electronic portal. Apply well in advance of your planned travel date. While the new system rolls out it may still be possible to obtain a tourist visa on arrival, but this is not guaranteed.

Keep printed copies or screenshots of your visa documents with you when you travel, including the Visa Application Reference Number (VARN). You may be asked to show these documents to immigration or airline staff.

Check your passport for Solomon Islands

Passport check · British passport

The check runs in your browser: your dates are not sent anywhere. It applies the FCDO sentence literally (for example “6 months” is counted as the same day of the month 6 months later).

For British passport holders only. These are the rules published by the UK government (FCDO) for British citizens. If you hold another passport, check your own government's advice. The airline and the border officials of the destination decide whether you can travel or enter: this site is information, not legal advice.

Blank pages: the official text says “…at least 2 blank pages…”. The checker does not count pages.
