Do Canadians need a visa for Sudan?

We quote the official text word for word and do not summarise it. The official visa text talks about getting a visa on arrival or at the border: read it in full.

Official text, “Visas”:

Tourist visa: required

Business visa: required

Student visa: required

Transit visa: required

Allow at least 2 months between your visa application and the intended date of travel. Visas are not granted automatically to prospective travellers.

Sudanese authorities strictly enforce entry requirements. Visa irregularities or alleged immigration violations may result in significant financial penalties. The authorities may hold onto your passport until these penalties are paid in full.

Registration

As a foreigner, you must register with the Ministry of the Interior’s Aliens’ Registration Office within 3 days of your arrival in Sudan.

If arriving by land or sea, you can register at your point of entry.

Certain larger hotels offer to register their guests. Processing fees apply and vary depending on where you register. Two passport-style photos may be required.

Israeli stamp

Local authorities will automatically deny you entry to Sudan if your passport contains an Israeli stamp.

Children and travel

Minors under the age of 18 may be required to present a letter of consent from their father or guardian to exit Sudan, even when travelling with their mother. This requirement may apply regardless of any custody rights granted to the mother by a Sudanese, Canadian or foreign court.
