Do Australians need a visa for Trinidad and Tobago?

We quote the official text word for word and do not summarise it. The first official sentence does not match a wording we summarise.

Official text, “Visas and border measures”:

Each country or territory decides its own entry and exit rules, including health border screening measures. To find out what you need to enter a destination, ask their embassy, consulate or immigration office.

If you've visited or transited the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Uganda or South Sudan, you will be subject to enhanced health screening on arrival and possible quarantine.

Trinidad and Tobago has introduced a digital Immigration and Customs form for arrival and departure. This form must be completed within 72 hours prior to travel. Visit the Immigration & Customs portal to complete the form.

You'll need an e-Visa to enter. The multiple entry e-visa fee is TTD800. Apply for your visa using the E-Visa Online Portal at least 14 business days before your travel. See the Trinidad and Tobago Immigration Division's website for more information.

If you arrive without a visa, you may be granted a visa waiver. The period of entry will be determined by the immigration officer. The visa waiver fee is TTD800 / USD134 and must be paid in cash (TTD or USD) on arrival at the airport.

Cruise ship passengers entering for less than 24 hours are considered in-transit and don't require a visa or to apply for the visa waiver program.

Entry and exit conditions can change at short notice. Contact the high commission, embassy or consulate of Trinidad and Tobago for details about visas, currency, customs and quarantine rules.

Trinidad and Tobago doesn't have a high commission or consulate in Australia. Its nearest mission is the Embassy of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago in Beijing, China.

How long must my Australian passport be valid for Trinidad and Tobago?

In its “Travel” section, Smartraveller gives no passport validity period specific to Trinidad and Tobago.

The official “Passport” text below is Smartraveller's general advice, the same on every destination page. Check the rule with the embassy of the country and with your airline before you travel.

Official text, “Passport”:

Validity

Many countries require your passport to be valid for at least 6 months before entering or departing. This includes for transit.

If your passport expires too soon, you might not be able to travel.

The Australian Government doesn’t make these rules. Check your passport’s expiry date before you go. If you’re not sure, it’s a good idea to get a new passport.

The same section also has Smartraveller's general notes (“Lost or stolen passport”, “Passport with ‘X’ gender identifier”), the same on every destination page: read them on the official page.
