Do Australians need a visa for Guam?
We quote the official text word for word and do not summarise it. The first official sentence does not match a wording we summarise.
Official text, “Visas and border measures”:
Each country or territory decides its own entry and exit rules, including health border screening measures. To find out what you need to enter a destination, ask their embassy, consulate or immigration office.
Visas
Guam is an unincorporated US territory. Before entering Guam, you'll need to complete a mandatory electronic declaration form, accessible 72 hours prior to departure.
You must meet US entry or transit requirements to enter Guam. The United States has strict entry requirements. US authorities won't allow you to enter the country if you don't comply. Please see United States of America Travel Advice for further information on the requirements of entry.
If you're visiting the United States for less than 90 days, you may be eligible to:
- apply for an Electronic System for Travel Authorization (ESTA) and
- then enter under the Visa Waiver Program (VWP)
If you only intend on traveling directly to Guam or CNMI for less than 45 days and will not enter any other parts of the US, you may be eligible to enter under the G-CNMI Visa Waiver Program. Otherwise, you'll need to get a visa before you travel.
Visa and other entry and exit conditions, including currency, customs and quarantine rules, can change at short notice. Contact your nearest US Embassy or Consulate for the latest details.

Travelling with children
If you're travelling with a child, carry evidence of your relationship.
If you're the sole parent travelling with your child, you'll need a notarised letter. You'll also need one if you're travelling with a child who isn't yours. This letter needs to include:
- consent signed by the non-travelling parents or guardians
- details on who the child can travel with
- the dates and places of travel
Some airlines don't allow children to travel alone. Ask your airline if unaccompanied children are allowed on flights to, from, or that transit in Guam.

How long must my Australian passport be valid for Guam?
In its “Travel” section, Smartraveller gives no passport validity period specific to Guam.
The official “Passport” text below is Smartraveller's general advice, the same on every destination page. Check the rule with the embassy of the country and with your airline before you travel.
Official text, “Passport”:
Validity
Many countries require your passport to be valid for at least 6 months before entering or departing. This includes for transit.
If your passport expires too soon, you might not be able to travel.
The Australian Government doesn’t make these rules. Check your passport’s expiry date before you go. If you’re not sure, it’s a good idea to get a new passport.
The same section also has Smartraveller's general notes (“Lost or stolen passport”, “Passport with 'X' gender identifier”), the same on every destination page: read them on the official page.
